The Bavarian Representative Office in Brasil

About us

Founded in 1999 and managed by Martin Langewellpott, the representative office of the state of Bavaria in Brazil is located in São Paulo, which is also the headquarters of the German-Brazilian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, with which the office is linked.

São Paulo is one of South America’s leading centers of business. It is for that reason that the office was located there—and one good reason why more than 1,300 German companies have based themselves there.

Brazil in Bavaria

Such Brazilian companies as Tupy or H. Stern have been operating successfully in and from Bavaria for many years. Along with nearly 6,000 Brazilians, these companies, in turn, form part of the large-sized Brazilian community in Bavaria. Such institutions as Deutsch-Brasilianische Kulturverein e.V (German-Brazilian Cultural Association), as die Brasilianische Bildungswerkstatt e.V (Brazilian Education Workshop) and Casa do Brasil e.V. foster the intercultural exchanges forging business, cultural and other ties between the state and the country. Such interchanges are also promoted by the 38 partnerships entered into by universities in Brazil and in Bavaria. International schools (including Munich’s Estrelinha Brazilian kindergarten) and initiatives ease and expedite Brazilians’ becoming part of Bavarian life.

Bavaria in Brazil

Bavaria’s trade with Brazil amounts to €1.8 billion—ranking the country 29th among the state’s trading partners. Such major Bavarian companies as Faber-Castell, MTU, MAN, Siemens, Brose, Kathrein and Scherdel have set up large-sized and successful production facilities in Brazil.
