About us
Founded in 2003 and maintained by the Bucharest-based German-Romanian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the state of Bavaria’s office in Romania is headed by Marko Walde, the Chamber’s executive director.
Romania in Bavaria
Among the EU’s CEE (central and eastern European) member states, Romania is Bavaria’s fifth most important trading partner. Located in Munich, the Romanian consulate serves as a key provider of contacts and information for 29,043 Romanians residing in Bavaria (2009). Along with the five partnerships entered into by districts and communities in Bavaria and Romania, the consulate also fosters intercultural exchanges between the state and the country.

In 2010, with a volume of more than €3.1 billion, Romania was Bavaria’s 20th most important trading partner.
The most important Bavarian companies operating in Romania include Schaeffler Group, E.ON Gas, Lisa Dräxlmaier and Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari SA.
