The Bavarian Representative Office in Russia
About us
In 1995, Bavaria became the first German state to open a proprietary office in Russia. Located in Moscow, the office provides services helping Bavaria’s SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) get in touch with Russian authorities, associations, organizations and companies. The office also provides Russian companies with briefings on Bavaria and its business community, and on setting up companies in the state.
Russia in Bavaria
Including ABBYY and Kaspersky Lab, more than 60 Russian companies operate in Bavaria. The large number of Russians living in Bavaria—currently more than 27,500—fosters business and cultural ties between the country and the state. These are also promoted by MIR e.V., the Russian cultural center in Munich, and by the nine partnerships entered into by Russian and Bavarian communities.
Bavaria in Russia
Nearly 6,100 German companies do business in Russia. Of them, one third are from Bavaria. They include Siemens, KNAUF, AUDI, BMW, Rehau, Ehrmann, Hochland, Adidas, Allianz, Osram, Bosch and Pfleiderer . Many of them maintain production facilities in Russia (and especially in greater Moscow), making the country Bavaria’s most important trading partner in eastern Europe.
Bavarian-Russian trade amounted to nearly €10 billion in 2010.
