The Bavarian Representative Office in the Ukraine
About us
Founded in 1993 and maintained by the Kiev-based Delegation of the German Business Community (Delegation der Deutschen Wirtschaft), the state of Bavaria’s office in the Ukraine is headed by Karin Rau, the Delegation’s chief representative in the country.
The Ukraine in Bavaria
The Ukraine’s business community in Bavaria is comprised of a steadily growing number of companies, of some 21,514 Ukrainian nationals, of the Ukraine’s consulate general in Munich, of the Ukrainian Free University, and of Ukraine Aktivhilfe München e.V. (a charitable organization devoted to helping the country). These institutions foster the community’s growth in Bavaria and ties between the state and the country. Such ties are also promoted by the four partnerships entered into by communities in Bavaria and the Ukraine.
Bavaria in the Ukraine
Including such household names as Knauf, Leoni and Siemens, Bavarian companies have been operating for a number of years in the Ukraine. Trade between Bavaria and the Ukraine now amounts to €633 million in 2010, and thus accounts for a considerable portion of the Germany-Ukraine total. Germany is the Ukraine’s second most important trading partner, with number one being Russia.
