Innovative international company in the construction industry boosts Bavarian product competence centre at Bodenwöhr

Zeil: “The expansion of Tremco Illbruck sets an important course in the County of Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate”

MUNICH / BODENWÖHR        The competence centre of Tremco Illbruck in Bodenwöhr – well known for its innovative sealing and insulating solutions for the construction industry – has decided to expand by opening a European central warehouse. The company site in Bodenwöhr has therefore managed to hold out in the face of tough intergroup competition from other German states and Eastern European countries for the 5.5 million euro investment. The new central warehouse will supply all Tremco Illbruck products to Central and Eastern Europe, thus decisively enhancing the strategic importance of Bodenwöhr compared with other company locations and paving the way for future growth. “The company could not have made a better choice”, said Bavaria’s Economics Minister, Martin Zeil, with conviction. “In collaboration with Invest in Bavaria, the town of Bodenwöhr and Schwandorf County have played an exemplary role in supporting Bodenwöhr with great commitment. The region offers all the advantages associated with rural areas and greatly appreciates its important traditional employers”, Zeil added.

Tremco-Illbruck Produktion GmbH has had a production site at Bodenwöhr since 1983, where it employs a workforce of some 250. Plant manager Walter Geyer is therefore aware of the significance of this decision: “Having the European central warehouse right here will generate new production capacities, which we urgently need if we want to carry on expanding. In this way, we can make best possible use of the current economic situation and at the same time increase in size. We will continue our good cooperation with the town, county and government of Upper Palatinate as the project proceeds.“

Tremco Illbruck Europa, headquartered in Cologne, has nearly 1,000 employees in 19 countries. It belongs to the U.S. Group RPM International in Medina, Ohio, which has some 7,900 employees worldwide.
