Zeil: “Bavaria gains a luminous example of future-oriented innovations”

LANDSHUT / MUNICH     The Optogan Group, a technology leader in the manufacture of electroluminescent diodes,is opening a LED manufacturing plant in Landshut. The metropolis on the Isar River is the company’s third location. Martin Zeil, Bavaria’s Minister for Economic Affairs, welcomed this choice: “I am very pleased that Optogan has decided on a Bavarian location for its expansion in Germany. The close proximity to the Munich Airport, as well as the access to highly qualified skilled employees and experts, creates an outstanding basis for developing the international business.”

The managing director of Optogan GmbH, Hans Peter Ehweiner, added: “We have found the ideal infrastructure for our future high-volume manufacturing of efficient LED chips in Landshut. Our LEDs are on the way to illuminating offices, industrial buildings and residences throughout the entire world. In addition, the central European location supports our distribution activities.”

With the transformation of the energy supply, LED technology will become more important in the future. One of the major tasks in this process will be to design energy use more effectively – such as through high-performance LEDs.

The Optogan Group was founded in 2004 by three Russian physicists. Since 2005, the company has developed and produced state-of-the-art chip technologies in Dortmund. At the end of 2010, Optogan opened the largest Eastern European factory for LED components and modules in St. Petersburg. Electroluminescent diode crystals, which can keep the lamps lit for more than 30 years, will now be produced in Landshut with the “Made in Germany” seal.
