The business region of Bayerischer Untermain is the Bavarian part of the Rhein-Main Metropolitan Region, where a total of some 375,530 people live and work. Universities and institutes of further education offering all specialisations (Darmstadt Technical University, the Universities of Frankfurt and Würzburg and Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences) are within quick and easy reach. On the one hand, Bayerischer Untermain benefits from the dynamism of the Greater Frankfurt area and, on the other, from the Bavarian zest for life and the political framework conditions of the State of Bavaria.

The region is very well connected to the motorway network and Frankfurt Airport can be quickly reached from Bayerischer Untermain. Thanks to its container terminal, the Port of Aschaffenburg links up the road, rail and waterway routes and is home to some 70 companies. The logistics industry is an important pillar of the region and the logistics experts based in Bayerischer Untermain have joined together to form the LogistikNetz network, so that they can promote their mutual interests.
