Tata Consultancy Services – A story of Indian success in Bavaria

One of the leading IT service providers in the world, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been operating in Germany since 1991, and present at its dedicated Bavarian office in Munich since 2005. What started out some five years ago as the company's first representative office on Bavarian soil, featuring just a handful of staff at first, quickly evolved into a representative office employing more than 12% of TCS Germany’s total number of staff. A team of 60 colleagues currently looks after customers in the region from within the Munich office. As it stands today, TCS employs more than 500 people throughout Germany.

Optimal conditions in Bavaria

As a provider of IT services and solutions for countless customers in the fields of Manufacturing, Media and Hi-tech, close proximity to its customers in Bavaria is crucial for the company. “Munich is the ideal location for our Bavarian office,” emphasizes Saptha Chapalapalli, Director Central Europe and responsible for the German and Austrian markets.. “We are convinced that, going forward, Bavaria will sustain its position as the foremost centre for IT in Germany. With its high-quality educational institutions and its well-trained workforce, Bavaria provides TCS with an excellent market for recruiting new talent and for positioning itself as an international organization that has a strong local presence. This is precisely why it has always been crucial to maintain a strong presence here.” The excellent transport infrastructure in and around this central location, together with an extremely healthy and fruitful cooperation with local institutions, are two further reasons why the company is so satisfied with its original choice of location.

Actively involved in training professionals

TCS Germany works together closely with a number of universities and colleges throughout the country, such as TU Munich. Cooperation efforts range from guest lectures and research grants, to on-the-job training schemes. Through its involvement in activities such as these, the company is able to play an active role in further increasing the number of qualified professionals, particularly in preparing them to work in intercultural surroundings.
